Welcome to my little world of creative wonder. 

I’m Rebecca, the artist behind Rathenart, living in beautiful Sydney, Australia.

The name Rathenart was inspired by the combination of two names, my own and that of a dear friend. Both names when combined reflected my vision for my art journey, one that I intended to be unique and extraordinary.

Rathenart, 25 years on has kept true to that vision. Little did I know then that the creative gifts passed on by my grandmother through her love of patterns and fabric would continue to inspire me day after day, year after year.

When it comes to my art practice, you can clearly see the cross over between my bespoke textile designs and the layering of mixed media materials on canvas.

My subject matter directly links to my love of the Australian Landscape, seen often through the eyes of my children via our family adventures.

Each composition is unique, often described as a kaleidoscope of colour and decorative markings, a visual and expressionistic recording of fond memories whilst out and about in the landscape.
